Bronze Door Ringer Information

Door ringers today have moved beyond the traditional push button. The homeowner has a choice of dozens of cast figures that can be pushed to ring the doorbell. Many of these creations are beautiful; some are whimsical, some traditional and modeled on popular door knocker designs. They are made from metals and metallic combinations that allow for the color of one metal to offset another. Many bronze door ringers use other metals for contrast, while others are solid bronze. These practical home implements have become decorative additions that are artistic creations.

Many solid bronze door ringers are done in oiled bronze. This finish darkens the metal to a dark, burnished reddish brown. The surface has a sheen to it, rather than the bright metallic sparkle of a polished bronze piece. Oiled bronze door ringer designs include the classic pineapple design, with a crosshatched oval topped by a crop of pointed leaves extending in all directions. Another favorite oiled bronze door ringer is the fleur-de-lys.

Some of the more complicated and artistic designs utilize bronze in conjunction with another metal. Usually the contrasting material is brass, set off by the polished bronze. Occasionally a bronze door bell ringer will include the use of nickel and silver, in lieu of brass.

• There is a brass and bronze dragonfly door bell ringer that would be an eye-catching addition to the wall next to your front door.

• A sunflower with short, pointed brass leaves and a large, realistic bronze center is another unique choice for your door bell ringer

• Another floral choice is the dogwood blossom of four brass petals and a bronze center.

• You have the choice of two butterfly designs, one in polished bronze and brass and one in burnished oiled bronze.

• The oiled bronze golf ball, complete with lines of indentations, would be a perfect cap for the golfer’s door bell button.

• One of the prettiest oiled bronze door bell ringers is a maple leaf, with all of the delicate veins in the leaf clearly represented in a carefully executed casting.
